South Texas International Film Festival strives to showcase the work of visionary filmmakers from all over our world. Based in Edinburg Texas, STXFF will showcase local, regional and international films that have a unique voice and style. We strive to bring together local filmmakers and artists to help connect the South Texas film industry with the world.
On August 21st and 22nd, 2015 STXFF will hold it’s inaugural event with award winning feature film screenings, a short film competition, beer, wine and more.
It’s all about who you know
A wine and beer garden will be held in the City Hall courtyard where attendees can mingle with filmmakers and make new industry connections.
Industry related vendors and businesses are encouraged to set up a booth in the Edinburg City Hall courtyard. This event will offer excellent exposure to industry professionals from the Rio Grande Valley and abroad as well as a wider demographic of young professionals that have an appreciation for film, tech and the visual arts.

5:30 PM – AS i walk through the valley: Panel
“As I Walk Though The Valley” is a documentary film about the history of the underground rock scene of the Rio Grande Valley in deep South Texas. Directors Charlie Vela and Ronnie Garza will join us for a preview and discussion about their upcoming documentary and the history of the South Texas music scene.

6:30 PM – Make it official
Workshop covering all the ins and outs of the logistics of filmmaking. With support from the Texas Film Commission attendees will receive valuable information regarding funding, permitting, incentives and deductions.
7:30 PM – SHORT FILM SHOWCASE
Following a short speech from a guest speaker, selected short films will be showcased to festival goers with a brief introduction by the film makers themselves.
11:00 PM – opening night afterparty
Day one of STXFF is all about highlighting the talent of the Rio Grande Valley and educational courses that are intended to foster creativity in the local film industry. We will partner with a local concert promoter to help organize the perfect Afterparty that is a true representation of our Rio Grande Valley music scene. Check back for more information soon!

Thirteen-year-old Lili fights to protect her dog Hagen. She is devastated when her father eventually sets Hagen free on the streets. Still innocently believing love can conquer any difficulty, Lili sets out to find her dog and save him.
White God is the winner of Cannes Film Festival’s Prize Un Certain Regard Award and official selection of Sundance Film Festival. Kornel Mundruczo’s newest film is a story of the indignities visited upon animals by their supposed “human superiors,” but it’s also an brutal, beautiful metaphor for the political and cultural tensions sweeping contemporary Europe.

A father and daughter journey from Denmark to an unknown desert that exists in a realm beyond the confines of civilization.
JAUJA, directed by Lisandro Alonso and starring Viggo Mortensen, is the winner of Cannes Film Festival’s FIPRESCI Prize.
8:00 PM – RED CARPET
VIP guests will make a grand entrance to the evening’s award ceremony where the perfect accommodations for a glamorous photo opportunity will help our guests commemorate the night and help press and media photographers capture the perfect shot for their story.
9:00 PM – AWARDS CEREMONY
Following an exciting look at next year’s festival, winners of the film competition will be announced and awards bestowed. Food and drinks will be served.
